Let’s Get Rolling

What a month! Monterey Car Week wrapped up, the Woodward Dream Cruise took over the streets of Detroit, and the Rolls-Royce Phantom turned 100. It feels like when a celebrity hits a century: you know everything about them, but you know you’ll never be them. Maybe we should dream bigger—but on a Phantom budget, our garage looks a little… different.

Also, we’ve got a 1:8-scale model F1 replica that will set you back the price of a new Civic.

Thanks for hanging out, let’s dive in!

What's Revving?

Honda

Woodward Dream Cruise was a Fever Dream:
Boats, Wagons, and V-8 Isettas took the streets this past weekend in Detroit for the Woodward Dream Cruise. Click here to catch some of the highlights.

100 Years of the Rolls Royce Phantom:
Eight generations and 100 years later, the Phantom is still rolling off the line with no plans to slow down. The price? It’s only gone up a bit with the Phantom 1 starting at £985.

The Best Gift for Car Enthusiests:
You can’t expect the best gifts to be cheap, and Honda is proving it with the RA272 model race car. They’re releasing a 1:8-scale version for $28,995. If that makes your wallet flinch, don’t worry, a 1:18 version will hit the market for a more "manageable” $1,735. Click here.

Car of the day: Audi RS5

Deane Bayas

The Audi RS5 is the perfect mix of style and muscle. On the outside, it’s sharp and refined; underneath, it’s a heavyweight ready to throw down. Across two generations, it’s gone from a screaming V8 to a twin-turbo V6, but the recipe hasn’t changed: quattro grip, serious speed, and just enough polish to make other cars feel self-conscious.

The first RS5 (2010–2015) was all about drama. A 4.2-litre naturally aspirated V8 lived under the hood, spinning to 8,250 rpm and producing 444 horsepower and 317 lb-ft of torque. Pair that with a 7-speed dual-clutch and rear-biased quattro, and you had 0–62 mph in 4.6 seconds (4.9 in the cabriolet). The sound alone could make your commute feel like a DTM qualifying lap.

The second generation (2017–2024) swapped displacement for boost, replacing the V8 with a 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6. Output stayed at 444 horsepower, but torque leapt to 442 lb-ft. The result? Audi quoted 3.9 seconds to 62 mph, and some tests have seen low 3s. A 2020 facelift brought sharper styling and updated tech, while the 2023 Competition package added coil-overs, quicker shifts, and raised the top speed to 180 mph.

If you want a screaming redline and old-school character, grab the B8. If you prefer brutal acceleration and modern refinement, the B9 is your car. Either way, the RS5 proves performance can wear a suit and still kick the door down.

Specs Summary
B8 (2010–2015): 4.2L V8 | 444 hp | 0–62 mph: 4.6 sec
B9 (2017–2024): 2.9L twin-turbo V6 | 444 hp | 0–62 mph: 3.9 sec
