Let’s Get Rolling

Cadillac

Monterey Car Week is in full swing, and things are getting wild. Mustang just rolled out something that looks like it moonlights as the Batmobile (not actually, but you’ll see what we mean), and BMW decided to pay tribute to the E31 8 Series with a limited-edition M850i. It’s rocking the original colours, but let’s be honest, we were all secretly hoping for an actual E31 body paired with a twin-turbo 4.4-liter V8.

Meanwhile, Cadillac showed up with a concept that looks like it came straight from both 1980 and 2050 at the same time. Oh, and there’s a 1958 Chevrolet Bel Air Impala packing enough power to qualify for a pilot’s license.

Thanks for hanging out, let’s dive in!

What's Revving?

Ford

The Mustand GTD Just Got a New Trim:
Ford just dropped the Mustang GTD Liquid Carbon, and it looks like Gotham might call any second. This lightweight, Batmobile-esque stunner could be exactly what Ford needs to snatch its Nürburgring record back from the ZR1X.

Cadillac Elevated Velocity Concept:
Gullwing doors and the most original brake lights we’ve ever seen. This off-road EV concept is hilarious in all the right ways. We can’t even begin to guess the price of a production version, but considering it comes with polo gear, let’s just say there would be more than a few dollar signs involved.

Acura RSX Prototype:
Looks like a Corvette from the front and a Model Y from the rear—proof that opposites attract. Now, does it drive like a honeymoon or a divorce?

Car of the day: Jaguar F-Type

Deane Bayas

When the Jaguar F-Type rolled out in 2013, it was the spiritual successor to the legendary E-Type, a car Enzo Ferrari once called the most beautiful in the world. Big shoes to fill? Absolutely. Did it pull it off? Well If looks could kill, the F-Type would be serving consecutive life sentences.

Under the hood, you had choices. At launch, that meant a supercharged 3.0-litre V6 making 340 or 380 horsepower, or the monster 5.0-litre supercharged V8 putting out up to 495 horses in the F-Type V8 S. Later on, Jaguar even added a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder with 296 horsepower for those who wanted the looks without the extra cylinders.

Rear-wheel drive came standard, with all-wheel drive added on the big-power trims later in life. The handling? Tight and eager, with enough drama from the exhaust to make your neighbours question their life choices. And for a short, glorious time, you could get a manual gearbox.

If you want a modern British sports car that mixes elegance and just a little bit of hooligan, the F-Type is where it’s at.
