Let’s Get Rolling

Best part of your Tuesday just got here...

Today, we’re comparing the RS6 and M5 Touring (not that it matters, we would happily take either). We also check out one of our favourite daily drivers before diving into cars that are total liabilities but would be a blast for the one month they last.

What's Revving?

Porsche

To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the Porsche Club of America, Porsche has unveiled the 2026 911 Carrera T Club Coupe. Just 70 units will be built for the Canadian and American markets. This limited-edition model features a 3.0-litre twin-turbo flat-six, a wooden shifter, and a plaid interior.

MotorTrend tested two family cars that no family actually owns, but every family wishes they did. After putting these 5,000-pound beasts through their paces, the M5 Competition came out on top. Still, the RS6 Avant remains a high-performance machine with looks worthy of its own reality show.

With the EV tax credit now removed, the Slate Truck’s base price has jumped to around $27,000. While we love the idea of a minimalist electric truck, $27,000 feels steep for something without a sound system or power windows. At this point, the closest real competitor might be the Ford Maverick.

Car of the day: First-Generation BMW 2-Series

When the BMW 2 Series (F22) launched in 2014, it marked a return to what made people love BMW. Rear-wheel drive, great handling, and compact proportions made it a car for people who love to drive.

The base 228i (F22) came with a 2.0L turbo four-cylinder making 241 horsepower and 258 lb-ft of torque. It was quick, efficient, and available with a manual transmission. But the one you wanted was the M235i. With a 3.0L turbo inline-six producing 326 horsepower and 332 lb-ft, it had the power and balance to turn any commute into one that made you smile.

In 2016, BMW introduced the F87 M2. Built on the same platform with a wider stance and stiffer suspension, it used a tuned version of the N55 engine to deliver 365 horsepower and 369 lb-ft. It wasn’t just quick, it was planted, and immediately loved by enthusiasts.

Inside, the F22 kept things simple. Sport seats, and physical buttons made it easy to stay connected to the road.

Production ended in 2021, but the F22 and F87 M2 still stand out. These were some of the last lightweight, manual-transmission BMWs that stayed true to the brand’s roots. Maybe they will make a comeback one day.

If you want something that feels real behind the wheel, skip the crossovers and find an F22. You won’t regret it.

Auction Watch

1997 Lotus Esprit V8:
Currently priced at $18,000, you can get asked daily, “Is that a Lamborghini?” at a fraction of the price.

1969 Volkswagen Beetle Sedan:
With the last Beetle produced in 2019, you’re going to have to buy an old Beetle anyway. So, you might as well get one that’s 56 years old.

1988 Porsche 928 S4:
4.5L V8 with a minor transmission fluid leak. Is it a liability? Absolutely. Is it worth the liability? Potentially…
